Arts Alliance Media to Supply Odeon UCI with Theatre Management System in Germany, Austria & Italy

Odeon & UCI Cinemas Group has announced that it has signed Arts Alliance Media (AAM) to be its Theatre Management System supplier across Germany, Austria and Italy. AAM will supply all sites with a Theatre Management System (TMS) and a Library Management Server (LMS) to manage all equipment and content across each cinema. The deal covers 65 sites and 661 screens across the three countries.

The TMS/LMS rollout is an integral part of the digital deployment arrangements announced back in 2010, whereby Odeon UCI is using private financing and direct digital deals with all six major Hollywood studios to fund the rollout via Digital Deployment Associates Limited (DDAL). Under DDAL contracts, Odeon UCI has already installed digital in 475 screens in the three markets and will complete the full rollout by mid-2012.

Fiona Deans, Chief Operating Officer of Arts Alliance Media commented “Being selected by Odeon to power their European digital cinemas is a great vote of confidence in our software and we’re delighted that we can increase our worldwide footprint with this deal.”

Howard Kiedaisch, CEO of AAM added “Working with Odeon UCI, the largest and arguably the most respected cinema chain in Europe, is very exciting for all of us at AAM -  Odeon UCI really sees the true potential that digital cinema can bring.”

Rupert Gavin, CEO of Odeon & UCI Cinemas added “We like the flexibility and ease-of-use of AAM’s digital cinema software offering.  It enhances our operations across three different countries and enables us to fully realise the benefits of digital – the ease of moving content, effortlessly building playlists and seeing at a glance what’s playing on which screens.”

AAM’s Theatre Management System - already used by many leading exhibitors across Europe - provides management of all a complex’s content, playlists, scheduling and reporting, via an easy to use web interface. TMS provides centralised playlist creation for all screens in a complex, including the automatic transfer of content to the correct screens. The reporting functionality provides instantaneous visibility of any invalid playlists, missing KDMs or overlapping schedules, as well as real-time playback monitoring. TMS supports all DCI compliant digital cinema projectors and servers (including multiple different servers within the same complex).

The Library Management Server (LMS) - which is compatible with any TMS - provides storage of content, and the LMS web interface provides an easy way to ingest content from any source – hard drive, satellite, USB – and make it ready for playout.

In Italy, Arts Alliance Media provides software to The Space Cinema, and AAM’s software also runs in Cineworld cinemas in the UK, Hoyts cinemas in Australia, Yelmo sites in Spain, and independent cinemas in the Netherlands, as well as selected sites in Norway, and will be installed across all Cinépolis sites in Mexico, South and Central America. The software is being used by Christie to power their Christie Avias TMS and is also licensed in Japan through Broadmedia Corporation.
