XpanD Named Official 3D Sponsor Of CFTPA Prime Time In Ottawa Conference
Michael Williams, XpanD’s Sales Manager, Professional Division, will participate in the session, “To 3D or not to 3D—That is the Question!” at the conference.
Reinforcing its global position as the leading manufacturer of 3D active-shutter glasses for all applications, XpanD has been named a Silver sponsor of the CFTPA (Canadian Film and Television Producers Association) Prime Time In Ottawa event February 17-19. In addition to XpanD’s sponsorship, Michael Williams, XpanD’s Sales Manager, Professional Division, will be part of an expert panel in the session, “To 3D or not to 3D—That is the Question!”
Attendees of Prime Time In Ottawa will include senior executive level decision-makers in production, broadcasting, cinemas, telecoms and government. With the emergence of newer systems in the theatrical market and the record-breaking film Avatar setting a new standard for 3D entertainment, “To 3D or not to 3D—That is the Question!” will host a panel of experts to address the host of new technologies that are poised to bring that 3D viewing experience to the comfort of the living room. Moderating the panel will be journalist Daniel Baird.
XpanD currently possesses a 95 percent global market share of 3D active-shutter glasses and is the only company in the world to provide 3D active-shutter glasses for all of the following markets: cinema, home entertainment (including DLP-Link projector technology), broadcast, education, corporate and PC gaming. At CES 2010 in Las Vegas, XpanD introduced its new X103 glasses, designed to work with 3D-ready LCD laptop and desktop monitors, LCD, DLP and plasma televisions.
“The popularity of Avatar and the rollouts of 3D-capable televisions at the CES show have created an unprecedented wave of excitement for 3D technology, but with that excitement comes a number of questions, not only from consumers, but from the professionals that will be developing and delivering 3D content in the near future, if they aren’t already,” Williams says. “As XpanD continues to lead the 3D revolution, we also recognize and embrace a responsibility to educate the marketplace, and we look forward to opportunities such as the session at Prime Time In Ottawa to do just that.”
“To 3D or not to 3D—That is the Question!” will take place on February 19, 11:00 AM-12:15 PM at the Westin Ottawa Governor General’s Ballroom II.
