Datasat Digital Entertainment Announces Support of 7.1 Discrete Surround Format
Datasat Digital Entertainment, Inc. announced on Monday the compatibility of the Datasat AP20 16-channel audio processor with the new 7.1 discrete surround format utilized by Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation Studios on the latest Woody and Buzz installment, Toy Story 3. By utilizing the AP20 16-channel audio processor, Datasat has assisted cinemas in upgrading to the new discrete surround format.
Datasat is excited to see the industry creative groups playing with different speaker placements that add to the cinema goers unique experience, stated Dusty Thomas, Vice President of Product Sales at Datasat Digital Entertainment. We have enjoyed assisting our AP20 customers configure their rooms to support this new format.
Engineered to deliver precise reproduction of both analog and digital sources, the AP20 leverages the power of 6 Analog Devices® 400mHz DSPs. The processor also features exclusive rights to Dirac Live® room optimization technology within the cinema space.
Other key product features include individual channel and global delays, integrated crossovers, HDMI for alternative content, 31 bands of 3rd Octave or 4 bands of Parametric EQ per channel and three expansion slots for future development.
The new 7.1 discrete surround format is only one of many new combinations that will arise with the implementation of 16 discrete channel audio processors, like the AP20, said Jason Vreeman, Vice President of Emerging Technologies at Datasat Digital Entertainment. As production groups become more experimental, exhibitors will be able to capitalize on their new equipment.
The AP20 Audio Processor, along with Datasats full line of cinema products, can be viewed at Cine Expo in Booth #141.
