Christie CP2000 Digital Cinema Projector Helps Launch Future of 3D Technology at ShoWest 2005
Texas Instruments and Top Hollywood Directors Use Industry’s Brightest Digital Cinema Projector to Screen “3D: New Dimensions in Digital Cinema”
Christie, a leading provider of
visual solutions for business, entertainment and industry, announced that the
Christie CP2000 2K resolution DLP Cinema™ projector was used in TI’s
pioneering demonstration of the future of 3D entertainment at ShoWest 2005,
which treated theatrical exhibitors to thrilling live action and animated movie
sequences that included clips from many blockbuster films, George Lucas’ “Star
Wars: Episode IV,” and James Cameron’s “Aliens of the Deep.”
Brian Claypool, senior product manager for Cinema, Christie, who provided
technical expertise in setting up the demonstration, noted, “The Christie CP2000
projector is the world’s most popular Digital Cinema projection system. It was
used because it provides the industry’s brightest image, a critical requirement
for ensuring the highest quality 3D viewing experience.”
Heralded as “the next big thing” in cinema, the latest generation of 3D
technology utilizes an innovative, active eyeglass system that “turbo charges”
the image on the screen, delivering a brighter, more realistic visual
experience. Enabled by TI’s ground-breaking DLP Cinema™ technology and
championed by some of Hollywood’s most successful, award winning directors, a
new crop of big-action live and CG animated content is already being created for
distribution to theaters around the world in 2005.
“Filmmakers and exhibitors are increasingly challenged to provide an ever-more
dynamic, more visually exciting experience for an increasingly sophisticated
generation of moviegoers, who are accustomed to viewing leading-edge digital
entertainment,” said Claypool. “The latest incarnation of 3D technology
represents a significant advancement over past systems. It achieves optimum
results by harnessing the power and performance of the Christie CP2000
projector, recognized as the brightest 2K resolution Digital Cinema projection
system on the market today.”
