Pillar Entertainment To Digitally Deliver G3's "Live In Tokyo" Concert DVD To Ten Movie Screens Throughout The US
- Epic Records and Pillar Entertainment Utilize the Latest in Digital Cinema Technology to Create Unique Marketing Opportunities for Music Content -
Pillar Entertainment today announced the Tuesday, October 25th theatrical
release and digital cinema world premier of G3's "Live In Tokyo" concert DVD. G3
consists of world class rock guitar players Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and John
Petrucci. These electrifying live performances were recorded on May 8th at the
Tokyo Forum, when Satriani brought his popular G3 tour to Japan for a series of
sold-out dates. Fans attending the packed-house shows were treated to individual
sets by each six-stringer, followed by an evening-ending all-star jam session.
These theatrical screenings provide G3’s record label, Epic Records, with a
"release event" for the concert DVD, which will arrive in retail stores the same
day as the theatrical event. Epic Records, the theatre circuits, and Pillar
Entertainment have coordinated on-site sales of the G3 DVD. The content will be
presented in theatres in high definition and employ Dolby 5.1 Digital Surround
Sound to enhance the audience experience.
"We are delighted to work directly with Epic Records and our theatre partners to
deliver the G3 concert and create an Event for the DVD's release." said Michael
J. St. Clair, Pillar's President. "With the technically proficient nature of
these guitarists, it makes perfect sense to have their material presented in
cinema grade high definition with a 5.1 theatrical mix created especially for
this event."
The Pillar presentation of "G3 Live In Tokyo" is slated for theatres in 9 cities
across the country including 2 locations in New York (Brooklyn and Long Island),
Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, Washington DC, Detroit, Seattle,
and San Diego. This Pillar presentation is to be delivered via the Access
Integrated Technologies (AMEX: AIX) digital content delivery system, which will
also provide back office management services.
