Unique Digital and Cinedavis today announced the creation of a distribution partnership to provide electronic delivery of feature films for the German market. This partnership will directly benefit from the recently announced alliance between Deluxe Technicolor and Unique Digital to provide a long-term viable future for Deluxe’ customers in terms of content delivery, with Unique as the preferred vendor in agreed territories worldwide.
Delivery of feature film to specific Exhibitors will be possible by the end of quarter three with a plan to have connected over 200 cinemas by March 2017.
As technology provider to leading DACH cinema advertiser Weischer Media GmbH, Cinedavis has long-established its digital cinema network, ONEDCN ® , featuring in excess of 1,000 connected screens with three of the largest circuits for the electronic delivery and management of pre-show content. In a new initiative to provide additional value to its exhibitor-partners, Cinedavis is making reserved capacity of ONEDCN ® available to selected third-parties to host their software as part of an integrated platform of services. Confirmed publically today, Unique Digital will offer its MovieTransit™ solution for the delivery of feature films as part of this exciting new integrated platform across Germany.
Chris Hagan, Chairman of Unique Digital called the partnership “a real step forward in rapidly establishing a viable feature film delivery network for the German market providing extra value and operational efficiency for both distribution and exhibition. The ONEDCN network adheres to the same high standards that we maintain for our transnational Movie Transit network. CineDavis provide a well-engineered and professionally delivered product and it is our pleasure not only to find like-minded people in approach but also to be able work with them to combine services onto a single platform, reducing the equipment clutter in booths that so many of our Exhibitor clients request”
“We at Cinedavis are proud of our neutral position in the market and of our close working relationship with a selected set of leading technology partners,” said Dr Marlon Teichfuss, CEO of Cinedavis. “Unique Digital is also a member of our ‘CINEMA.RELOADED ® ready’ Theatre Management System certification programme and we are delighted to advance our collaboration towards this new innovative platform.”
George Eyles, Managing Director of Deluxe Technicolor Digital Cinema commented: “Our partnership with Unique is a key element of our strategic planning and growth opportunity for 2016, so we are delighted that this new deal extends their reach into Germany ahead of schedule. By increasing our digital distribution footprint through Unique we are able to continue to deliver new innovative distribution paths for our studio and independent client base.”
“As the cinema industry embraces a range of digital technologies, it became ever more clear to us that Cinedavis’ neutral position and established network was a key asset that—unlocked—could play a valuable role in helping our cinema-partners’ daily business,” said Julian Pinn, MD of Julian Pinn Ltd and technical strategy advisor to Weischer Media.
