Christie Performs for Asia’s Largest Film Festival
Christie CP2000 and Christie Roadster S+20K Projectors to Power Pusan International Film Festival
Christie, a major provider of visual solutions for business, entertainment and industry, is proud to announce its Christie CP2000 DLP Cinema® projector and Christie Roadster S+20K DLP® projector will be used to screen digital presentations during the 11th Pusan International Film Festival (PIFF), October 12 – 20, 2006. This year, PIFF will unveil a complete line-up of 246 films from 62 countries, 156 of which are world, international or Asia premieres.
Over the last decade, the Busan-based PIFF has grown to become the largest film festival in Asia as well as one of the most vibrant and influential film events in the world. This year, it will launch the Asian Film Market, to provide an opportunity for film producers from across the globe to engage in investment and joint production contracts as well as export and import agreements. The focus of PIFF is to introduce new films and first-time directors, especially those from Third World countries.
To enhance the cinematic experience, six Christie CP2000 Digital Cinema projectors with the Christie Cine-IPM 2K image processors will be installed by Christie’s Korean partner, Eugenetek Corporation, at various venues in Busan including Primus Cinema, CGV Jangsan Cinema and Grand Hotel. This marks the festival’s continued commitment in supporting the latest visual technology – offering an outstanding movie viewing experience while allowing exhibitors to tap into the enormous potential of alternative content. “With Christie’s extensive entertainment solutions, we’re excited that our attendees will enjoy a riveting and unique visual experience during the screenings,” comments Jake Park, Chief Manager, Asian Film Market, PIFF. “Screenings featuring alternative content are becoming an effective means of increasing business for exhibitors who are using 2K Digital Cinema technology to its fullest potential.” Imtek Korea, the country’s largest rental staging company and the official audio visual provider for PIFF, has acquired four Christie Roadster S+20K projectors.
“We have witnessed the amazing performance of the Christie Roadster S+20K,” comments H.S Woo, president, Imtec Korea. “They’re bright and powerful with excellent image processing and contrast ratio. These purpose-built solutions with HD capabilities definitely fulfilled our demanding rental staging needs. By showcasing them at the PIFF, we will demonstrate their power and excellence to the Asia marketplace and the world.” “The artistic and economic vitality of the Korean cinema industry, reinforced by exhibitors’ rapid adoption of new cinema technology, has enhanced Korea’s prominence as one of the most influential cinema centers in Asia,” said Lin Yu, vice-president of sales, Christie Asia Pacific. “PIFF is one of the world’s most prestigious film festivals and we’re proud that our digital projectors will play such a critical role in shining a spotlight on these exciting presentations.”
