Christie DLP Cinema Projectors Selected for the World Premiere of Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean: at World's End"
Christie, a global leader in visual solutions for entertainment, business and industry, announced that the world's most preferred Digital Cinema projector, the Christie CP2000-X projector, will be used at the World Premiere of Walt Disney Pictures/Jerry Bruckheimer Films' "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California, on May 19. The gala event, at which all of the film's stars are expected to attend, raised $3 million for Make-A-Wish foundation of America and Make-A-Wish International.
"Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," which opens in theaters everywhere on May 25, continues the thrilling saga of Will Turner (Orlando Bloom), Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) and the consummate pirate-rogue, Captain Jack Sparrow played by Johnny Depp. The movie is directed by Gore Verbinski from a screenplay written by Ted Elliot & Terry Rossio. For the first time ever, the public has also been invited to participate in the premiere, where the event sold out in just 14 days. Disney is underwriting the entire cost of the premiere, so 100% of the income from ticket sales will go directly to benefit both Make-a-Wish Foundations.
"We are proud to be using Christie's state-of-the-art projectors at the World Premiere of 'Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End,'" said Lylle Breier, senior vice president, Worldwide Special Events for Buena Vista Pictures Distribution. "Our guests will be able to enjoy all of the film's impressive digital visuals in razor sharp clarity, and see a faithful reproduction of the filmmaker's vision."
"Digital Cinema is a great way to present this extraordinary pirate saga, which boasts some of the most electrifying special effects ever seen," noted Craig Sholder, vice-president of Entertainment Solutions at Christie. "Christie and Disney have enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship for many years, working together to launch Digital Cinema, including Disney Digital 3D. Our collaboration with 'Pirates' continues our long and productive relationship. We are also proud to be part of this particular premiere because it is for such a great cause."
