XPAND, a worldwide provider of active 3D Digital cinematic experiences, joined a prestigious panel of acclaimed 3D filmmakers and technology experts during 3D Day at American Pavilion during Cannes.
Showcased on the panel via live feed, was Academy Award winner James Cameron, best known for his pioneering efforts in 3D filmmaking and current 3D projects Avatar and Battle Angel scheduled for release in 2009. Also included in this distinguished panel was Ben Stassen, director and producer of “Fly Me to the Moon,” a 3D animation US release by Summit Entertainment in August 2008 which pays homage to the US space mission to the moon. The discussion entailed a comprehensive approach to creative 3D platforms from the creator’s perspective which then moved into the technology delivery experience.
Participating on the technical panel for XPAND was Ami Dror, the company’s strategic business development associate who provided a presentation on the evolution of 3D technology and XpanD’s commitment to further develop and explore new technologies and avenues that promote the enhancement of the 3D medium. Presentations were also delivered by Bob Mayson general manager and VP of Kodak Digital, Michael Peyser producer of U2 3D and partner in 3ality, Vince Pace 3-D camera system developer and cinematographer, and Demian Lichtenstein CEO Equilibrium Entertainment and director of the action movie “Relentless” in 3-D. This panel gave the audience an opportunity to ask questions to better inform them about the endless capabilities through high impact 3D digital cinema.
XPAND was created by industry veterans in theatrical exhibition, entertainment, film production & distribution, and specialty film and digital technologies and is financed by a European investment fund.
