Access Integrated Technologies, Inc. Announces Development of 'Theatre Command Console' Digital Cinema Platform
New Software to Aid in Standardization of Exhibitor Management Systems
Access Integrated Technologies, Inc. ("AccessIT") (Amex: AIX - News) today
announced the development of an innovative new digital cinema software
management platform called "Theatre Command Console." The software platform will
enable motion picture exhibitors, at both local and remote locations, to
integrate a variety of theatre automation, Digital Cinema content management and
other applications through a single, consistent Graphical User Interface (GUI).
"Theatre Command Console" is slated for release in the third quarter of 2004.
"We see exhibitors coming of age in the digital era through products such as the
'Theatre Command Console.' These products will afford easy, fingertip access to
all critical theatre operations from a central, unified command and control
console, whether used by an onsite theatre manager or directed remotely from the
central home office," explained Russell Wintner, President of Access Digital
Media, a unit of AccessIT. "Our goal with this product is simple: starting with
the digital media playback systems, we want to ensure that regardless of
differing hardware solutions, operators can easily employ a single user
interface to simplify training and flexibly integrate multiple technology
solutions into a unified system."
Initially, the "Theater Command Console" will address the needs for a common
Graphical User Interface and content management system that will support
multiple current brands and models of digital cinema projectors and playback
systems. Future modules of the new software will also support theatre-level
electronic and bookkeeping functions through an interface with Hollywood
Software's Exhibitor Management System (EMS).
Kurt Schwenk, Director, Media Solutions NEC Solutions (America), Inc.,
commented, "As a leading technology solutions provider, we have built our
business by listening to the market and delivering products that address their
needs. We are pleased that AccessIT is pursuing the development of a hardware
independent software platform, one that we believe is a significant step toward
making digital cinema a commercial reality."
Bud Mayo, CEO of AccessIT, added, "With our formidable infrastructure and proven
development expertise at Hollywood Software, we are uniquely positioned to
provide products that maximize savings for our customers through tools to
streamline operations such as EMS and 'Theatre Command Console' while enabling
each customer to flexibly configure its application use to their unique needs.
Theatre exhibition will now be able to fully move into the digital era, taking
full advantage of the power, economies and convenience of information technology
as other sectors have been doing for some time."
