Time Warner Chooses Christie CP2000 Digital Cinema Projector
Christie Projector at Executive Screening Theater in New York City is an Integral Part of Multi-Functional Media and Entertainment Center
Christie, a leading provider of visual
solutions for business, entertainment and industry, announced the installation
of the Christie CP2000 2K resolution digital cinema projector at the new Time
Warner screening theater at Columbus Circle in New York City. The
state-of-the-art audio/visual facility, featuring a 175-seat auditorium with a
30-foot screen, is used for screenings of cinema presentations, diverse digital,
video and film content, live feed and special events. Time Warner selected
Christie following the lead of Warner Bros. Studios, Hollywood, which has
standardized on Christie CP2000 digital cinema projectors.
The Christie CP2000 projector is part of Christie's comprehensive line of
digital cinema solutions and offers versatility with various video formats and
computer inputs. It was the first 2K resolution DLP Cinema projector to be
installed in a commercial venue in North America.
"The Christie CP2000 digital projector can display anything Time Warner is doing
media-wise, including feed from CNN, which is housed in the same building.
Whether it is digital content, news conferences, direct feed or live feeds, the
Christie CP2000 can handle it," declared Emil Poggi, vice president of
engineering, Rydt Entertainment Systems. The company was responsible for the
design, engineering and oversight of the installation. It also supplied all the
projection equipment.
TechnoMedia Solutions, which is responsible for the overall audio and visual
systems for Time Warner Corporate, noted that company executives wondered
whether the image quality of digital projection could match that of high-end
35mm film projection. "The Christie CP2000 projector performed beautifully, with
no discernible difference in the images on the screen versus traditional film,"
said Mike Carroll, senior projector manager, TechnoMedia Solutions, and
consultant to Time Warner. "The overwhelming response was that the image
projected by the Christie CP2000 matched film quality."
"The Christie CP2000 projector displays the best cinema experience available
commercially today, with the highest possible resolution and color rendition,
reproducing the effect of film at the highest level of digital projection,"
commented Scott Freidberg, director of cinema sales, Christie USA. "We are
pleased to add Time Warner to our growing list of major organizations worldwide
that are recognizing the versatility and quality performance of Christie digital
cinema projectors."
