DLP Cinema® Enables Midwest Premiere of Charlotte’s Web In Full Digital Projection
Carmike Cinemas Hosts Screening at Site of its 1000th DLP Cinema Installation
As part of the ongoing commitment by DLP Cinema® to the delivery of superior digital imagery and motion picture excellence, Texas Instruments (TI) (NYSE: TXN) today announced it will jointly host the Midwest premiere of Charlotte’s Web, a Paramount Pictures release, in conjunction with Carmike Cinemas using DLP Cinema technology. This milestone event and location underscore the prolific industry adoption of DLP Cinema, allowing mainstream America to experience digital picture quality and reliability previously available only in select cinematic hub cities.
In advance of the Charlotte’s Web national release on December 15, 2006, this early premiere event will take place at the Carmike Wynnsong 12 theatre in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Thursday, December 7, 2006. Following the Midwest premiere, the movie will be screened digitally on DLP Cinema projectors in Carmike theatres as well as other DLP digital screens in the U.S. and abroad.
The Midwest premiere location in Iowa was selected to correspond to the Carmike Cinemas, Inc., national theatre chain, 1000th auditorium equipped with a Christie DLP Cinema projector. This is part of a rapid expansion of DLP Cinema theaters exceeding 2,694 worldwide and growing on a daily basis.
“With pride we celebrate this milestone of our digital cinema deployment throughout our theatres,” said Michael W. Patrick, Carmike Chairman, President and CEO. “In partnership with DLP Cinema, together we continue to expose millions of movie-goers across the country to an unmatched viewing experience.”
DLP Cinema technology delivers clear, sharp, bright and accurate images to movie theatres globally. This digital picture ensures that the movie screening looks flawless and each showing is as perfect as the first with no annoying scratches, tears or weaving that detract from the movie-going experience. These leading attributes ensure that each screening will be of the same quality shown to cinema audiences for hundreds of viewings to come.
“Paramount Pictures would like to thank DLP Cinema for their continued support and marketing efforts on behalf of our films in Digital Cinema,” said Jim Smith, Senior Vice President, Operations at Paramount Pictures. “We wish them continued success.”
