General Electric has been working with Eidophor since the early 1950s as a manufacturer of the electronics for the systems delivered to 20th Century Fox. By 1958, GE had produced their own projector based on the Eidophor's process. The GE Eidophor projector was popular for the rental and staging business in that it could be temporarily installed.
