Access Integrated Technologies, Christie Team Up to Bring Movies to the
Digital Screen in State-of-the-Art "2K" Format
AccessIT's Pavilion Digital Showcase Theatre Now Nation's Largest 2K Digital
Access Integrated Technologies, Inc.
("AccessIT") (AMEX: AIX) and Christie Digital Systems (Christie) today announced
they have teamed up to outfit AccessIT's wholly-owned Pavilion Digital Showcase
Theatre with five, state-of-the-art 2K Digital Cinema projectors. Digital
2K-movie presentation offers viewers approximately twice the resolution of
typical high-definition programming and is the highest-fidelity, projector
technology currently commercially available. This installation makes the
historic Brooklyn, New York-based Pavilion Theatre the most advanced digitally
equipped 2K venue in full-time operation in the United States.
Installed to premier some of Hollywood's most exciting blockbuster films in the
majority of Digital Cinema theatres around the world, Christie's CP2000
projector offers the highest level of brightness and contrast ratio on the
market today. Beginning this month, digital movies will be delivered to the
Pavilion and other locations via satellite using AccessIT's proprietary
distribution software and technologies. Once downloaded to AccessIT's secure
central server in the Pavilion, the decrypted and decompressed movie files will
be digitally projected onto five screens equipped with Christie's CP2000 2K
projectors featuring DLP Cinema™ technology.
"This joint effort is the natural outcome of a long-standing collaboration
between our respective companies, whose Digital Cinema technologies complement
one another," said Bud Mayo, President and CEO of AccessIT. "We chose Christie,
not only because of its organizational commitment to Digital Cinema, but also
because of its responsiveness to addressing all of our needs as an exhibitor and
owner of the Pavilion Theatre as a digital showcase. To date, no other company
has shown Christie's level of understanding of the entire process."
Russell Wintner, President and COO of Access Digital Media, added, "We are
working closely with the entire Christie staff to simplify the installation
process as well as ensure streamlined in-theatre operations after installation."
Jack Kline, President/COO, Christie USA, also commented, "We are delighted to be
partnering with AccessIT on this important advancement in Digital Cinema.
AccessIT's best-of-breed software and services and integrative system approach
complements our own leading-edge DLP Cinema projectors. We look forward to using
this installation to showcase how seamless it is for exhibitors to transition to
Digital Cinema."
