NEC unveils the digital cinema of the future in Amsterdam
NEC will be unveiling a comprehensive solution for the
fully-digitised cinema of the future at Cinema Expo International, Europe's
largest gathering of the motion picture theatre industry, which takes place in
Amsterdam from 27 to 30 June. Further highlights at the NEC stand will be the
iS8-2K, the world's smallest and lightest DLPTM cinema projector, and a brand
new projector, the iS25-2K, which can project images onto screens of up to 25
meters in width.
Cinema Expo International in Amsterdam is the place where the European film
industry's professionals convene every year to find out about the very latest
cinema products and technology. Future cinema technology is far more important
here than screenings of the latest blockbusters, because the cinema is now also
gradually leaving the analogue age behind. Not only does digital technology
deliver enhanced image and sound quality as well as integrated anti-piracy
protection, it is also considerably less expensive because it eliminates the
majority of copying and distribution costs for studios.
NEC Europe will also be presenting Digital Cinema Solutions for content storage
and display for all in-theatre movies, advertising and digital poster
applications. Products on display will include Plasma Displays as well as Home
Cinema and Digital Cinema Projectors. Through detailed discussions with
customers with regards to their specific needs a package can be developed which
can be realized with one of NEC’s partners.
The iS8-2K, the world's smallest and lightest cinema DLPTM projector. The iS8
has a resolution of 2048x1080 pixels and one of the markets it caters to is the
post-production market. It can project images onto screens of up to 8 meters in
width. This model's compact design - it only measures 67cm x 75.2cm x 42.3cm -
its low weight and its high reliability make it ideal for multiplex and art
cinemas where only limited space is available. NEC has now also developed a
solution for large multi-screen cinemas, the new NEC iS25-2K, the world's first
digital cinema projector that can project images onto screens of up to 25 meters
in width.
NEC can be found in Hall 11, Suite E at Cinema Expo International.
