Digital cinema
software provider Arts Alliance Media (AAM) and content services company Motion
Picture Solutions (MPS), are to offer an improved seamless content delivery
service to exhibitors with a combination of the LANsat library management server
and the Screenwriter TMS (Theatre Management System). With Screenwriter
installed on each LANsat server, exhibitors can now receive content and automated
KDMs sent electronically and manage content easily through an intuitive
interface, distributing it throughout a site, ready to play out on screen.
As part of the
recently announced deal in which MPS acquired the Content Services division of
AAM, the companies are collaborating to offer the strongest solutions for
digital cinema content delivery and content management, utilising AAM’s
expertise in exhibitor-side software and MPS’s leading position with hardware
for electronic delivery.
LANsat offers all
the ease and flexibility of an off-the-shelf consumer satellite box, with the
quality and reliability of a professional solution for exhibitors to receive live
events via satellite or content sent electronically. A simple to use interface
allows cinema owners to tune into an event cinema satellite transmission locally
at an individual site, or manage the broadcast for multiple cinemas from one
central location. Exhibitors can play the broadcast out on screen or store it
for later, and track the progress of content arriving electronically. Once
delivered, content can be stored on the huge 24TB server or be transferred at
the touch of a button to screens throughout the complex.
The Screenwriter
TMS, already installed on 20,000 cinema screens worldwide, provides complete
control of all screens and content from a single easy-to-use interface, while
also automating many time-consuming digital cinema processes. Screenwriter’s
advanced features mean content is automatically transferred to the appropriate
screens based on the schedule, saving time and eliminating human error.
Advertising is
also made even easier with LANsat and Screenwriter. Advertising content
delivered straight to LANsat is automatically inserted into playlist templates
built in Screenwriter, fully automating a previously time-consuming and
error-prone process.
Eric Stevens,
Commercial Director of Arts Alliance Media said “Bringing the power of
Screenwriter to the technology of LANsat means an unparalleled solution for
exhibitors. Electronic and satellite delivery of content already makes
exhibitors’ lives easier by eliminating hard drives with all the hassle of
ingest and return they entail, and now receiving and distributing content in
your cinema couldn’t be easier. Screenwriter’s automation functions mean staff can
spend more time with customers, focusing on the cinematic experience.”
Simon Tandy,
Director of MPS added “Receiving and managing content for your cinema is now as
easy as operating your satellite box at home, but with all the quality and
support you expect from a professional solution. With the increasing popularity
of event cinema, LANsat makes it simple for any cinema to offer great content
to the audience, either controlling it all themselves or taking advantage of a
complete managed solution. Everything is web-based, meaning you can be in
control of all your cinema’s content from wherever you are, and get content
onto your screens with the absolute minimum of effort.”
Distributors can
be reassured that the combined offering of LANsat and Screenwriter provides an
even more seamless content delivery service. Whether the chain is managed by
MPS from mastering to delivery, or working with third party labs or satellite providers,
LANsat and Screenwriter provides studio-approved SLAs and full delivery
verification and reporting.
