In 1939, Barid and Scophony held simultaneous demos so exhibitors and audiences could evaluate performance. Both companies had investors and board members from the major cinema chains. British Gaumont announced plans to install 350 Scophony systems. Unfortunately, all discussion and progress stopped when the bombs began to fall on London. During the war, both companies survived making war-related equipment. After WWII, Baird Cinema Television was absorbed by the Rank Organization later to become Rank Cintel. The remaining assets of Scophony were was acquired by EMI.
