Barco Series II Lands on South Korea with the Major Purchase Agreement for DCK Rollout
Barco, a global leader in digital cinema projection, is proud to announce that it has entered into a Supply Agreement with D-Cinema Korea (DCK), an industry leader in digital cinema solutions and ships the 1st order today to DCK. With this agreement signed, Barco can deliver its brand-new 'Series II' digital cinema projectors to more than 150 screens at nearly 20 sites for the Korean roll out.
Following the success of Phase 1 in which they are installing about 500 screens, DCK continuously enters Phase 2 of their digital roll-out with Barco's supply agreement for more than 150 units. For DCK, this agreement is the catalyst for a rapid deployment of digital projection systems in 2010. DCK will deploy a full spectrum of Barco's novel family of DP2K projectors together with full solution for Digital Cinema in various locations in South Korea

DCK was established in 2008 as collaboration between CJ CGV Co. ltd and Lotte Shopping Co. Ltd Cinema Division. The company's main objective is to convert to digital most effectively of more than 1,000 screens in South Korea, which will also pave the way for 3D cinema in the wake of the overwhelming success of 'Avatar'.

All six Series-II models support both 2D and 3D projection, and each includes next-generation electronics designed specifically for DLP Cinema Enhanced 4K. The new Barco DP2K-series includes six different models, representing the most complete cinema projector family in the industry. For small and mid-size movie theaters, Barco offers a dedicated family of cost effective compact DP2K 'C' projectors, based on the 0.98” DLP Cinema® chip from Texas Instruments. For larger venues, Barco's offering includes a complete family of DP2K B-series projectors, based on TI's 1.2” DLP Cinema® chip. Barco's flagship projector for the large chip family is the DP2K-32B projector, which earns the title 'brightest digital cinema projector on the planet'. In addition to advances in software, cooling, and convergence, all Series-II projectors also include enhanced security features as mandated by the Digital Cinema Initiative (DCI).
