Digital cinema specialist Arts Alliance Media (AAM) has announced
it is to expand its Content & Distributor Services division by opening a
duplication facility for DCPs (Digital Cinema Packages) in Barcelona, in
conjunction with Spanish partners Kelonik. The facility is due to open at the
end of the year.
AAM’s Content & Distributor Services department currently
services European and worldwide clients from its base in London. It provides
digital cinema services such as encoding, reversioning and subtitling, as well
as the creation and duplication of DCPs to play out on digital screens and full
KDM (Key Delivery Message) management. The new Spanish facility will provide a
base in the heart of Europe to provide even more comprehensive service to
current and future Spanish clients as well as better servicing of pan-European distributors.
It will provide more economical local duplication and shipping services to
cinemas or warehouse facilities.
Arts Alliance Media will supply the new facility with duplication
equipment and stock to mirror the facility operating in London, and will also utilise
an existing fully equipped cinema for QC activities. Kelonik will provide all operational
logistics involved in the duplication and shipping of DCPs, as well as adding
extensive territory expertise to the service.
Utilising technology that AAM has been working with for some time,
DCPs will be sent via secure electronic transfer between the London and
Barcelona offices, allowing for duplication onto AAM systems and providing
maximum efficiency. AAM’s Booker software, developed in-house, will also be
installed in Barcelona to manage all drive movements and KDM bookings.
Victoria Galloway-Dacie, VP Content & Distributor Services at
AAM, said “Our team has been doing a great job over the past few years
servicing clients across Europe and beyond, and we’re delighted to be able to
bring that service closer to our European clients to provide an even better and
more economical service. We couldn’t ask for a better local partner than
Kelonik, and look forward to joining forces.”
Tomas Naranjo, Partner and Director of Kelonik, added “Being able to
provide a seamless digital cinema service to clients across Europe will provide
better value and convenience for those for whom Barcelona is closer to their
operations. Working with AAM who are experts in DCP duplication, we are excited
to open our doors in Barcelona to existing and new clients for all their
digital content needs.”
