Sharp NEC Display Solutions Europe, a global leader in innovative display solutions, is proud to support the work of MediCinema, a UK charity dedicated to delivering therapeutic cinema experiences for hospital patients and their families. This project, delivered in close collaboration with trusted integration partner OMNEX, highlights a shared commitment to using technology to make a meaningful impact where it truly matters.
MediCinema’s mission is to bring the transformative power of the shared cinema experience into hospitals, providing patients with a much-needed sense of normality, distraction, and emotional relief. The latest installation of a state-of-the-art Sharp/NEC projector at MediCinema’s newest cinema at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Liverpool, enhances this experience by delivering high-quality, reliable visual performance in a hospital-safe environment.
OMNEX, who provide ongoing technical support and service for all MediCinema venues, played a central role in the successful delivery of this project. With a deep understanding of MediCinema’s operational needs and a longstanding relationship built on flexibility and trust, the Omnex team ensured a seamless and thoughtful installation.
“We’re delighted to support MediCinema in their extraordinary work,” said Adam MacDonald, Sales Manager Cinema Solutions EMEA at Sharp/NEC. “Our projection technology is built to deliver incredible experiences, and we’re proud to see it used in such a meaningful setting. Our thanks to Omnex for their exceptional service in making this possible.”
MediCinemas are specially designed to accommodate wheelchairs, beds, and medical equipment, offering patients and families an immersive cinema experience that brings comfort and joy during difficult times.
Paul Giggal, Chief Operating Officer at MediCinema, commented: “Expertise, flexibility, and generosity are what define our experience with Omnex. They have consistently delivered excellent service, are really flexible to our specific needs, and have very quickly become a trusted partner of ours. We are also so incredibly thankful to Sharp/NEC for their generous support, their technology brings a high level of quality to our cinema environments, making a very real difference for the patients we serve.”
Omnex added: “We’re proud to support all MediCinema sites under service contract and to work closely with their team and hospital staff. The Alder Hey cinema is a brilliant example of the power of what MediCinema offers, and we’re excited to continue supporting their mission by building more cinemas that help patients feel better with film.”
MediCinema’s remarkable work was recently recognised with the 2025 BAFTA Award for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema, a prestigious honour reflecting their impact across NHS hospitals.
This collaboration highlights the importance of trusted partnerships in achieving meaningful outcomes. Sharp/NEC and Omnex are proud to support MediCinema’s mission and remain committed to delivering technology that enhances lives.
