XDC, the leading Pan-European digital cinema service company, and Euroscoop, a dynamic cinema exhibitor with presence in Belgium and The Netherlands have agreed for the deployment of digital cinema systems in 61 of Euroscoop’s cinema screens in Belgium and The Netherlands.
Amsterdam – Cinema Expo 2009 – The deal signed between Euroscoop and XDC includes the roll out of DCI-compliant projection systems co-financed by the Virtual Print Fee (VPF) model. Rollout is scheduled to begin in September 2009 with full digitalization of the 6 cinemas throughout the rest of the year.
Luc Van de Casseye, CEO of Euroscoop stated “We are very happy to sign this agreement with XDC which demonstrated to us their high technology expertise as well as the ability to guarantee VPF backing with all the 6 US studios. Moreover, XDC is a Belgian-based company able to provide immediate reactivity and support.”
Serge Plasch, XDC’s Chief Executive Officer said: “It’s great to have our first VPF deal in Belgium, as well as in Holland where we have also another 6 screens signed under the VPF. We know Euroscoop from several years since it was one of the first customer of XDC in early 2005. Both of us, we made our first steps in digital cinema, and we are now moving together to the next phase with a full digitalization.”
Under the terms of the agreement, XDC will exclusively install DCI-compliant digital projection systems: Barco 2K Cinema projectors and XDC’s CineStore® Solo G3 D-Cinema servers. XDC will also implement a fully integrated and networked solution in each of the 6 complexes, thanks to its advanced Theatre Management System and Central Library, the XDC’s CineStore® Plaza.
