Barco, a global digital cinema technology leader, announces an innovative array of digital cinema solutions uniquely tailored to the needs and budgets of smaller theaters, independent cinemas and art houses. Its fully integrated 0.69” DLP Cinema® projector, 3D cinema sound format Barco Auro 11.1, digital signage solutions, and an on-demand remote cinema management system can combine into an economical, turnkey system to help small exhibitors shape their “Cinema of the Future.”
Typical costs associated with converting a traditional film-based operation into a fully digital cinema platform can be daunting for small movie exhibitors. The industry has largely fallen short in providing a viable solution that enables smaller theaters to affordably upgrade to digital cinema technologies. Now, Barco is fulfilling the needs of small exhibitors desiring to offer their patrons a premium, immersive movie experience with a bundle of solutions that enable fast, cost-effective deployment and support of a comprehensive digital cinema solution platform.
Fully integrated digital cinema projector for smaller screens
Barco introduces the DP2K-10Sx, a compact digital cinema projector that provides everything a smaller theater needs to present high-quality digital movies. The brightest projector in its class, the DP2K-10Sx is a fully integrated projector andserver package, which comes with a high-grade, motorized cinema lens, a 2.2 kW energy-efficient Xenon lamp, and an Integrated Media Server with integrated storage for a completely turnkey solution. High frame rate playback is available at no additional charge. It is also compatible with all 3D systems and maintains spare parts commonality with other Barco projectors.
Immersive 3D audio elevates small theaters to the big time
With Barco’s scalable Auro 11.1 system, even smaller theaters and art houses can rise to the occasion to turn a theatrical presentation into an immersive adventure in sound. Its flexible channel-based format reproduces the dynamic, yet subtle aspects of a film’s soundtrack by creating sound in three distinct layers: surround, height and overhead, to create a truly realistic, enveloping aural experience.
Convenient, online remote cinema management
CineCare Web is an easy-to-use online monitoring and service tool designed to maximize uptime of cinema equipment by enabling 24/7 remote management. Operating via a secure, easy-to-use web interface and cloud-based application, CineCare Web facilitates pro-active maintenance of the connected cinema gear. Fully scalable, it can benefit smaller cinemas as well as multiplexes and circuits, also enabling integrators and service providers to centrally manage all of their customers’ cinema systems with one simple tool.
Scalable digital signage solutions from door to door
Barco digital signage solutions provide a flexible, cost-effective way to entertain and communicate with audiences in the lobby, in concessions stands and other high-traffic areas to promote a cinema’s brand, merchandise, upcoming features, and more. Barco’s systems feature integrated modules for content creation, distribution and display, all controlled with an intuitive user interface. Built on a scalable platform, they offers owners unlimited creative freedom to design high-impact signage that turns a cinema into a revenue-generating entertainment center.
Shaping the cinema of the future
“Barco maintains an unwavering commitment to shaping the cinema of the future for all of our customers, from the largest national circuits, to the single independent art house,” comments Wim Buyens, Senior Vice President, Entertainment for Barco. “We’ve taken much care in leveraging our best-in-class digital cinema technologies across compact, scalable platforms to enable these smaller exhibitors to reap the full rewards of a move to Barco digital cinema. Information and/or products will be available in the following partner booths: Ballantyne Strong, Bardan, Doremi, GDC, Magna-Tech and Qube. In addition, a special screening of DreamWorks Animation’s new theatrical release Rise of the Guardians, which utilizes the Barco Auro 11.1 sound format, will be shown at the event.
