CES+ Retrofits Marcus Theatres® with Dolby Atmos Systems

CES+ Installed Full Audio Systems in Two Georgia-Based Cinemas, Including Utilizing CES+ Services on a Tight Three-Week Deadline
CES+, an audio/visual integration leader in cinema equipment, software, and technology solutions, is proud to announce it has retrofitted two Georgia-based Marcus Theatres® auditoriums with complete Dolby Atmos systems. The theatres are located in Horizon Village Cinema in Suwanee, and Roswell Cinema, located in Roswell.

“We were able to convert two auditoriums to Dolby Atmos in only three weeks in order to complete the project before the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which was a tight deadline to meet,” explained Alex Younger, CES+ CEO. “From project design inception, we began to value engineer a proposal that was farther outside the box than any other provider bidding these Atmos projects. This is the primary reason CES+ was able to win two out of three bids because we always stick to our values and help our customers by building long term relationships. And that is what prevailed here.”

Founded in 1935, Milwaukee, Wis.-based Marcus Theatres®, a division of The Marcus Corporation, is the fourth largest theatre circuit in the United States and currently owns or operates 1,106 screens at 91 locations in 17 states under the Marcus Theatres, Movie Tavern® by Marcus, and BistroPlex® brands.

“CES+ did a good job, as always, completing the project in a very short timeframe,” said Mark Gramz, SVP Operations of Marcus Theatres.

For this project, CES+ value engineering made sure that the retrofits were not only on budget, but below budget without any quality degradation. CES+ also took a different approach than most on this project by including an on-site project manager, allowing CES+ to deploy two projects simultaneously with minimal to no interruption for either.

“From design inception to fully commissioned Dolby Atmos rooms, CES+ can manage both with our in-house resources,” Younger continued. “We provided engineering and architecture design, Dolby Commissioning services, Dolby DART approvals, project management, drape work, and on-site techs to hang and EQ the Dolby sound equipment.”

Each installation included:
  • (1) Dolby IMS300 integrated media server
  • Dolby Atmos full license
  • (2) Dolby 16-channel amplifiers
  • (1) Dolby 32-channel amplifier
  • (3) Dolby System 131 screen channel speakers
  • (3) SLS CS218XL dual 18-inch subwoofer module
  • (2) SLS 118-I-BK 18-inch subwoofer module
  • (17) Dolby DSR1260 surround speakers
  • (12) Dolby DSR1280 surround speakers
  • Audio design services
Whether you’re gaming, watching your favorite movie or show, or listening to that new track on repeat, Dolby Atmos enhances the entertainment you love across all of your devices. It goes beyond ordinary listening by transporting you with the breakthrough spatial sound experience that draws you in deeper, so you hear and feel more.
