Country music fans nationwide will be in for a brand new entertainment experience when Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3D, the first‐ever 3D country music concert movie, is released in April 2010. Filmed with camera rigs provided by 3ality Digital, LLC, the experience is a compilation of five Kenny Chesney concerts spanning five cities – Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Seattle, Foxborough (MA) and Indianapolis.
Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3D was inspired by the award‐winning 3D concert movie, U2 3D, filmed and produced by 3ality Digital. According to Chesney, as reported by KennyChesney.com, "’I’d seen U2’s movie and was blown away.’ ‘It was like something I’d never seen – and I wondered what would happen if we tried to capture some of what was going on like that… How would it look, because this is more straight up… Everyone who saw the footage agreed, and we started taking this project very seriously.’“
Ted Kenney, director of production for 3ality Digital and the 3D producer of Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3D, says, “The energy of Kenny’s music and performance will resonate in 3D theaters. When you see this movie you won’t just be watching it, you’ll be experiencing Kenny Chesney right along with his fans.” Kenney adds, “The shoot took place over a few shows to capture the atmosphere in different cities, as Kenny is very passionate about his music and his fans. This particular tour, the Sun City Carnival Tour, was specifically tailored with the audience in mind.”
The film will be released in more than 750 locations through Sony Pictures’ Hot Ticket division.
