GDC Technology and NEC Present Groundbreaking Live Demonstration Using GDC’s SX-3000 Standalone Integrated Media Block (“IMB”) and NEC’s 4K Laser Projector at CinemaCon 2012
GDC Technology (“GDC Tech”), a world leading digital cinema solution provider, and NEC, a leading provider of commercial LCD and projector solutions, have teamed up and presented the first-ever demonstration of High Frame Rate (“HFR”) in 3D utilizing a GDC SX-3000 Standalone IMB and NEC’s next-generation 4K-resolution laser projector at NEC’s Milano Meeting Suite during CinemaCon 2012.
The demonstration showcased how the combined capabilities of NEC’s and GDC Tech’s digital cinema solutions are capable of achieving HFR laser projection in 3D using the Standalone IMB, which continues to drive cutting-edge digital cinema technology. NEC’s 4K-resolution laser projector is designed for varying screen sizes and installation flexibility using the latest 4K DMD from Texas Instruments. Apart from HFR capability in both 2D and 3D, GDC Tech’s SX-3000 Standalone IMB permits long distance 2K and 4K content streaming and remote access via gigabit Ethernet, thereby greatly simplifying multiplex operation.
“NEC and GDC Tech are uniquely positioned to leverage their respective technologies to make the revolutionary demonstration possible at CinemaCon,” said Jim Reisteter, General Manager of Digital Cinema at NEC Display Solutions. “Tradeshow visitors witnessed a stunning display of high level of brightness, color gamut and saturation. The NEC laser projector in tandem with GDC Tech’ SX-3000 IMB deliver a visual experience second to none which is paramount to satisfying both the current and future market needs of the industry.”
“We truly value our partnership with NEC. This revolutionary demonstration shows that GDC Tech and NEC will continue to push the limits of digital cinema by exploring new innovations and offering the industry’s most advanced technology that can enhance exhibitor business,” said Dr. Man-Nang Chong, founder and CEO of GDC Tech. “Research and development are essential to our business and in addressing the needs of the market, and GDC Tech is delighted to unveil the SX-3000 Standalone IMB which enables significant cost savings in the construction of digital multiplexes and effortlessly simplifies theatre management.”
