Ballantyne Strong, Inc. (NYSE MKT: BTN), a provider of digital cinema projection equipment, screens and services as well as specialty lighting equipment, today announced that it has won a contract to supply Caribbean Cinemas with 238 state-of-the art Barco (NYSE Euronext Brussels: BAR) digital projection systems, featuring cinema servers manufactured by GDC Technology Limited.
Following the completion of the deployment, Ballantyne will also add the entire Caribbean Cinemas circuit, including its 437 screens in 53 theatres, onto its Network Operations Center (NOC) 24/7/365 proactive equipment monitoring service.
Caribbean Cinemas President Robert Carrady stated, “We are very pleased to again partner with Ballantyne as we bring these remaining analog screens onto our digital platform. The cinema industry is rapidly becoming more high-tech dependent, as cinema owners transition to the digital format and leverage the benefits it brings to their operations and valued patrons. As part of a bundling arrangement, we have also agreed to outsource our NOC monitoring function to Ballantyne’s knowledgeable and experienced service group. Having the added peace-of-mind that potential issues with our projection systems can be identified in advance and addressed remotely by the Ballantyne NOC team was a key factor in our decision-making process to entrust them with this important function.”
“We are excited to continue an over two decade relationship with Caribbean Cinemas”, stated Ray Boegner Senior Vice President Ballantyne Strong Inc. “Caribbean Cinemas continues to push the envelope of presentation quality not only of feature movies but alternative content experiences. With our continued expansion of products and services to the cinema market we are pleased to offer state-of-the-art solutions the support the Caribbean Cinemas brand.”
