The first-ever conference dedicated to
in-theatre content beyond motion pictures will feature industry leaders, clips
and demonstrations of the latest in music, sports, pre-show ads, mobile-powered
content and games, it was announced today by Charles Swartz, executive
director/CEO Entertainment Technology Center at USC (ETC-USC). Highlights of “Other Digital Stuff: Expanding the In-Theatre Experience”
include a keynote by NATO president John Fithian; presentations from cinema
concert innovators Emerging Pictures and targeted cinema advertising leaders
Kodak, National CineMedia and Screenvision; interactive technology from
GoldPocket Wireless and BT; and the latest in 3D trailers and cinema
advertisements from REAL D.
“Other Digital Stuff” will take place March 10, 2006, from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM in
Hollywood at ETC-USC’s Digital Cinema Lab theater. Attendance is free for
qualified industry members and registration is at www.etcenter.org.
A progress report on the digital cinema rollout, presented by executives at
Christie/AIX, Technicolor and the UK Film Council, among others, opens the day’s
panels. It will be followed by sessions exploring music and sports; 3D trailers,
ads and lobby displays; ad customization; and pre-show innovations such as
interactive and mobile-powered content. There will be exhibitions of the latest
advancements; discussions about technology and bottom-line issues; and an
examination of alternative content that appeals to audiences.
“Other Digital Stuff” is designed for creators and distributors of content for
new in-theatre platforms; exhibitors seeking to build attendance and revenues;
and marketers and advertisers seeking to harness the big screen’s storytelling
power.
