Severtson Screens Talks Folded SAT-4K & Microperf Acoustically Transparent Projection Cinema Screens at CineAsia 2016

Made in the USA, the SAT-4K Can Be Folded for Int’l Distribution with No Loss in Structural Integrity at Significantly Lower Shipping Rates; Provides Exceptional True Fidelity of the Original Soundtrack and Reference Quality Video Reproduction
Severtson Screens (www.severtsonscreens.com), a global leader in innovative and quality projection screens for the cinema, commercial, pro AV, and home theater markets, is excited about the international popularity of its recently launched SAT-4K cinema screen line, and will be discussing the acclaimed folded SAT-4K during CineAsia 2016, held in Hong Kong from Dec. 6-8 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. The SAT-4K is now shipping. Severtson has also announced that new microperf options, which can also be folded for easier and less expensive international logistics and shipment, are now available for its SēVision 3D GX line of cinema projection screens.
 
“When we first saw a demonstration of Severtson’s SAT-4K material, we did not have any sound quality loss with high pitch frequency audio, as such loss is apparent in vinyl screens,” said Ricardo LaPorta, South America Territory Sales Manager for Christie Digital Systems. “The SAT-4K has tremendous sound transfer capabilities, along with remarkable visual clarity. To say we are impressed is an understatement.”
 
LaPorta added that due to the SAT-4K’s performance, they are now using the SAT-4K screen in Christie’s Sao Paolo, Brazil training facility.

“Made in the USA, the foldable SAT-4K is the ideal projection screen for virtually all cinema requirements,” explained Toby Severtson, president and CEO of Severtson Corp. “Like perforated screens, the sound stage can be placed directly behind the screen at the same horizontal axis, allowing the vocals and the special effects to be completely in sync with the brilliant images on display. Due to almost no audio frequency loss, the SAT-4K screen allows for a completely immersive cinema experience.”
 
Severtson Corp. V.P. & Chief Operating Officer Dan Maxwell added, “Our new folded shipping method allows for no loss in the screen’s structural nor visible integrity, and now makes international distribution of the SAT-4K cinema screen line highly affordable, reducing international shipping costs by up to 70 percent.”
 
Currently available up to 16 ft. in height and nearly limitless in length, the SAT-4K cinema screen meets or exceeds all industry standards for optimum video and acoustic performance, with reference quality reproduction of the digital image combined with true fidelity of the original soundtrack. Severtson plans for expanded height availability later in 2016.

According to Severtson, Microperf is becoming the industry standard and is what has put its ‘folded’ line over the top. This option is now the screen of choice for high-end, premier theatres and cinema chains. The Severtson microperf viewing surface practically eliminates moiré which is often problematic of screens with larger perforation, yet continues to provide a more realistic soundstage allowing speakers to be placed directly behind the screen.
 
“Our new folded shipping method now makes international distribution of our industry-acclaimed SēVision 3D GX highly affordable, reducing international shipping costs by up to 70 percent,” added Severtson. “Besides standard perforated white and sliver screens, we now also offer the immensely popular microperf option to the folded SēVision 3D GX line of cinema projection screens for international shipment. Since its recent launch, we’ve had to renovate our facility and upgrade our machinery to keep up with worldwide demand.” According to Severtson, microperf offers multiple benefits versus standard perforation screens, such as seven percent open space against the traditional 4.5 percent open space. He added that microperf is also the perfect solution for 4k, 8k, 12k and even higher projection resolutions as these technologies becomes available in the future.
