Cinema-industry veteran Susie Beiersdorf, Vice President of Sales, Cinema – The Americas, Christie, has been selected as the 2019 recipient of the Ken Mason Inter-Society Award. The Ken Mason Award honors an individual who has made outstanding long-term contributions leading to the overall improvement of the motion picture experience. The announcement was made today by Paul Holliman, President, The Inter-Society for the Enhancement of Cinema Presentation, Inc. Beiersdorf will receive the award at a ceremony held at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on April 4.


CineAsia 2024 has been scheduled for Dec 9-12, 2024 in Bangkok.  

The CineAsia trade show is where cinema exhibition and distribution professional come to do business and network. The convention will also feature product presentations and screenings of major upcoming films, exclusive sponsored events, and seminars relating to current and future trends happening across the industry.

Introducing Northview Horizon, the Next Generation of White Gain Optical Coatings

Strong/MDI Screen Systems, a Ballantyne Strong Inc. (NYSE American: BTN) company, and a leader in projection screen manufacturing and optical coating development announced the release of a new white gain coating technology designed to enhance 2D displays using high-output projectors. 
 
The formulation, developed by Strong/MDI’s R&D chemists, provides a uniquely smooth, brilliant white surface, hence its property of diffusing light more uniformly. Northview Horizon’s optical qualities include increased image depth as well as sharpness. When combined with Strong/MDI’s new HP micro perforation, the surface eliminates the probability of moiré interference in laser projection systems. Northview Horizon’s improved coating technology is highly durable and resistant, ensuring hassle free installation and years of high-quality image reproduction. 
 
“High gain coatings traditionally precipitate a narrower viewing angle. Conversely, Northview Horizon’s improved light distribution qualities allows exhibitors to reap all the benefits of higher gain without compromising image quality” says Francois Barrette, Vice-President and General Manager at Strong/MDI. “Exhibitors who choose to upgrade to a higher gain Northview Horizon surface obtain a superior picture with reduced projector output, resulting in a return on investment within an estimated 24-36 months.”
