Barco and OSRAM offer one stop shop for Digital Cinema lamps
Digital Cinema pioneer Barco is delighted to announce a cooperation with OSRAM. Through the OSRAM worldwide lamp supplier distribution network, exhibitors now have access to a one stop shop for lamp supply for both analog as well as digital cinema projectors.
Barco and OSRAM recognize that a joint lamp supply chain is one of the key aspects for the exhibitor to live the transition from analog to digital cinema. In line with Barco’s commitment to provide its customers highly reliable, easily serviceable and cost effective products, OSRAM will provide a cost efficient and simpler purchasing process for both analog and high brightness digital cinema lamps.
Through the cooperation with OSRAM, customers benefit from reduced logistics costs, resulting in a lower lamp unit price. Over the course of the projector’s life time this results in a significant reduction in operational costs to the exhibitors, making the transition from analog to digital cinema even easier.
“The new cooperation offers digital cinema exhibitors world wide greater flexibility and availability”, says Nico Vernieuwe, Vice President of Barco's Events and Digital Cinema businesses. He continues, “It reflects both Barco's and OSRAM’s strategic goal to provide the most cost effective service for our customers and to further enhance our world wide leadership position within Digital Cinema”.
“OSRAM is the world market leader in cinema lamps, looking back to a history of more than 50 years of cinema projection – and having a dense network of service firms authorized for OSRAM´s high quality lamps. To provide our customers with the latest technology, we are ready for the era of digital cinema. With the cooperation with Barco we will offer the exhibitors one stop shopping, for analog as well as digital lighting solutions for cinemas”, adds Hans-Joachim Schwabe, heading the Display/Optic division at OSRAM. The OSRAM brand name was registered way back in 1906 and is one of the oldest trade names still recognized throughout the world.
