Doremi Labs Outfits New Screening Room with State-Of-The Art Digital B-Chain™ System From JBL Professional and Crown International
Demonstrating the integration and performance effectiveness of coupling JBL Professional and Crown International for high-performance cinema sound solutions, Doremi Labs has outfitted its new screening room with a Digital B-Chain™ Cinema sound system, featuring loudspeakers from JBL Professional and amplification, networking and processing from Crown International.
Located in Burbank, Doremi Labs is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of video servers and disk recorders for the professional audio/video markets. Doremi’s flagship product, the V1 family of video disk recorders, can be found in several thousand production facilities across the globe. Doremi Labs is a leading developer and manufacturer of digital cinema servers and mastering stations. Doremi’s DCP-2000 was the first commercially available server capable of playing JPEG2000 digital movies conforming to DCI specifications. Doremi Labs continues to add advanced features to the DCP-2000, including 3D and MPEG2 MXF Interop playback. The DCP-2000 also provides the highest level of security via Texas Instruments’ TCineLink II strong link encryption, Thomson's NexGuard and Philips' CineFence forensic watermarking. The new screening room at Doremi Labs is used for quality control and testing.
“As we’re doing testing and quality control in the screening room for studios and for ourselves, it was important to have high-quality technology, and JBL and Crown are the market leaders in cinema sound,” said Michael Archer, Vice President of Sales, Doremi Labs. “We screen and test frequently, and the audio system has met all of our expectations.”
The 21-seat screening room features five JBL 3631 ScreenArray® loudspeakers, eight JBL 8340A surround loudspeakers, a JBL 4645C subwoofer, eight Crown CTs Series amplifiers with USP3CN modules installed, and a Crown Digital B-Chain network bridge. The entire system is operated via a custom control screen developed for Doremi using Crown IQwic software.
“The implementation of the Digital-B-Chain system is consistent with our company philosophy of utilizing state-of-the-art technology to develop the world’s best products for the audio/video industry,” said Camille Rizko, President of Doremi Labs. “The new screening room at the Doremi Labs headquarters demonstrates our commitment to the continued development of world-class products, and JBL and Crown components are already helping us achieve this continued success.”
“The Harman Pro Group is naturally very pleased to be associated with Doremi Labs, a proven leader in developing digital cinema servers and mastering stations,” noted Stephen Morris, Vice President of Cinema Sales and Marketing, Harman Pro Group. The DBC® system not only keeps the B-Chain completely digital through the power amplifiers but it also integrates easily with Ethernet controlled theatre management systems. The deployment of a Digital B-Chain system by Doremi Labs reaffirms Harman’s unique ability to provide integrated solutions that are optimally designed to comprehensively address the specific challenges of digital cinema.”
