Klipsch Chosen by Landmark Theatres for National Flagship Venue
With the Los Angeles area hosting some of the nation’s highest-grossing movie theaters, competition runs high. However, Landmark Theatres, with the installation of industry-leading Klipsch speakers and other state-of-the-art amenities, is more than ready to compete in this aggressive market with its new flagship theater.
On Friday, June 1, the popular specialized theater chain, which currently entertains 24 markets nationwide, opened ‘The Landmark,’ a 2,000-seat, 12-screen theater located at the intersection of Pico and Westwood Boulevards in West Los Angeles. Each movie is dynamically presented via the latest in film, digital projection and sound technology.
According to Bobby Parry, Landmark Theatres’ chief engineer, every aspect of this flagship venue is far ahead of the curve. It is equipped with Sony SXRD 4K digital projection, which Parry says has four times greater resolution than the best DLP projectors available. Additionally, Parry states that Klipsch professional cinema speakers, Dolby Digital EX surround sound processors, and QSC amplifiers are the only products that can complement an image of this quality.
“Klipsch builds the most advanced, best-sounding professional speakers for the cinema industry,” said Parry. “They have the smoothest response curve of any cinema speaker I’ve ever used.”
According to Chuck Mulhearn, Klipsch’s director of professional cinema, Klipsch uses advanced Tractrix® Horn geometry and compression driver technology that reproduces a more genuine, lifelike sound in theaters. Horn design dramatically increases efficiency, which is important, because it enables Klipsch speakers to produce more output using less energy. This improves reliability and reduces distortion, so you hear exactly what you’re supposed to, instead of speaker coloration.
“The highest quality, horn-loaded speakers are an absolute must for delivering the powerful, detailed soundtracks of today’s demanding films,” said Mulhearn. “Perhaps that’s why one of every two new theaters in North and South America installs Klipsch cinema products.”
Over 230 Klipsch speakers fill The Landmark's auditoriums with detailed and immersive audio, including KPT-535-4-T and KPT-435-N behind-the-screen systems; KPT-8001, KPT-1201 and KPT-250 surround speakers; as well as KPT-884, KPT-684 and KPT-418 subwoofers.
In addition to its cutting-edge technology, The Landmark features reserved stadium seating, extra leg room, leather seats, and unobstructed sight lines. It also offers a wide variety of food and beverage options. The concession stand features gourmet, health conscious, and specialty snacks, including not only freshly-popped popcorn with real melted butter, but also unique items such as Pizza Rustica pizza made fresh on location, Yogurberry frozen yogurt with fresh fruit toppings and La Brea Bakery hot pretzels with gourmet mustards.
