STRATACACHE today announced the newest release of OmniCast for Digital Cinema (DC) 4.0, an updated version of the fast and highly efficient digital cinema distribution software. The 4.0 release is capable of distributing some of the movie industry’s largest files in any format with 100 percent reliable content delivery and security. OmniCast for DC 4.0 is available and currently shipping.
OmniCast for Digital Cinema will be showcased during the 2008 NAB Show in Las Vegas, April 14-17. Additional product information and materials will be available in booth C1247.
The same highly advanced one-to-many digital cinema distribution system now has even higher bandwidth capabilities for sending the largest files via multicast at very high speeds (up to 300Mb/s). OmniCast for DC can move files of any size and format (from MPEG-2 to JPEG 2000) over any network with 99 percent transport efficiency. With reliable and confirmed file transfer, theater owners, content creators, and content distributors can be confident that every bit of media has been successfully delivered to theaters and other remote destinations.
OmniCast for DC reliably distributes multiple Digital Cinema Packages (DCPs) simultaneously and cost-effectively to hundreds or thousands of remote locations. OmniCast offers proven scalability that enables it to distribute files to as many as 20,000 endpoints from a single server.
OmniCast software transmits digital cinema files via the patented MFTP reliable multicast protocol across satellite, terrestrial, wireless, or hybrid networks, while the OmniCast packet relay module enables high-speed unicast data delivery over private or Internet links. With powerful delivery management features including advanced packet sequencing, forward error correction (FEC), negative acknowledgement (NACK), automated job-scheduling, and auto-retry, OmniCast delivers a highperformance digital cinema delivery solution.
OmniCast for DC 4.0 is delivered with a totally new secure web interface. An industrial strength SQL database further improves and optimizes performance, reporting and extensibility. OmniCast for DC extends network bandwidth control to easily guarantee that content distribution usage is metered by time of day, day of the week and remote site.
“DCP distribution over satellite and terrestrial networks is at a transformational stage, and STRATACACHE is excited to be at the forefront advancing this movement,” says Filip Vandenbusshe, VP STRATACACHE International. “Movie distributors and theatres expect a reliable, bandwidth-efficient means of distributing movies. Our investments in people and technology demonstrate our resolve to deliver a more efficient means of DCP distribution.”
OmniCast for Digital Cinema can be purchased as a customer-deployed solution, through a software as a service (SAAS) arrangement, or as a managed service via STRATACACHE or partners worldwide.
