dcinex™ to Reach Agreement with Major Spanish Distributors
At Cine Europe convention, the company announced to have reached a final VPF distribution agreement with the main independent distributors in Spain as of 15th June, 2012.
With the VPF digital roll-out in high progress in most European countries, agreements with local distributors accounting for a good proportion of the film releases in their specific countries gain in importance as Christian De Stoop, VPF Sales Director at dcinex™ explains: “In many cases, it may be true that boxoffice is dominated by Hollywood blockbusters distributed by the six major studios but, like many European countries, the Spanish cinema market has also a high share of local and independent film productions distributed by local parties. We are therefore very happy to have come to an agreement with a good number of these local distributors which guarantee a strong foothold in the Spanish cinema market and add to the variety of content for our VPF customers.”
To-date, Altea Films, Dea Planeta, Tripictures, Wanda Visión, Vertice Films, Vértigo Films, Golem Distribución and Filmax have agreed to work with dcinex™ VPF cinemas under the framework of this deal. Other companies as Solotres D, A Contracorriente Films, Savor Ediciones, Alfapictures, Baditri expressed their willingness to enter into this agreement as well. This will give dcinex™ a sound presence in Spain with a coverage of just under 90% of the market. Miguel Ángel Durá Spain Operations Director concludes: “With this agreement, we are already well prepared for the future. However, we are still in ongoing negotiations with other parties and our goal is to increase this number to end up at 99% coverage in the near future.”
