Royal Films was established in Colombia in October 1974, with only one movie theater in downtown Barranquilla. In the early years, their growth was concentrated along the coast. They began to expand aggressively throughout the country in the 1990s, growing to 136 screens in 29 locations across 19 cities. Currently, Royal Films is among Colombia’s largest film exhibition companies, with 48 percent of the country’s digital screens and plans to continue growing.
