Unique Digital’s groundbreaking broadband content delivery system Movie Transit has
now passed 600 theatre deployments across the UK and Ireland, including every
independent cinema in the territory. This brings the total number of Movie
Transit enabled cinemas to over 1500. All Movie Transit installations comprise
of an eco-friendly, low power consumption content server, firewall security and
dedicated broadband connectivity.
Over 70% of Movie Transit
broadband installations are equipped with super-fast fibre connections between
50 and 150 Mbps allowing a myriad of delivery capabilities. With assistance of
BT, Unique Digital plan to achieve at least 100 Mbps in all sites within 12
months, opening the door to alternative content, live streaming and dynamic
programming.
Movie Transit is a true point-to-point
delivery system which finally opens up genuine, flexible, digital distribution
capabilities to the exhibition market. Distributors and content providers can
ensure that content is delivered precisely where it is booked. With an open API
for distributor integration, and smartphone apps for tracking when on the move,
the Movie Transit software suite is the most advanced theatrical content
delivery system in the world.
With such a large footprint of IP broadband
installations, the UK and Ireland is now the world’s largest single territory
for broadband feature delivery. All 600 cinemas are receiving feature,
advertising and trailer content each week, providing distributors a fantastic
opportunity for low cost and effective delivery. Unique Digital have shown once
again that they are ahead of the curve in software solutions.
Chairman of Unique Digital, Chris Hagan said
“Many doubted that a broadband only network for this volume of traffic was
possible at this point in time. However with the backing of our partners, BT,
we have built the first large-scale broadband network for the future of
theatrical content delivery. With speeds only increasing year on year
Movie Transit is future proofed”
