The EDCF is a not-for-profit voluntary organisation that aims to act as a "Forum" to discuss key issues surrounding Digital Cinema in Europe. The Inter-Society for the Enhancement of Cinema Presentation, Inc. promotes interactive dialogue and information exchange between cinema-related entities with the goal of resolving issues affecting the overall cinema presentation. Founded in 1978 by Eastman Kodak VP Ken Mason, membership is composed of its four charter trade organizations - International Cinema Technology Association (ICTA), the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), the National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO), and the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) - along with over 40 member companies, made up of trade organizations, motion picture studios, exhibition companies, manufacturers, technical consultants, and other industry stakeholders.
 




For more than a century, the people of SMPTE (pronounced “simp-tee”) have sorted out the details of many significant advances in media and entertainment technology, from the introduction of “talkies” and color television to HD and UHD (4K, 8K) TV. Since its founding in 1916, SMPTE has received an Oscar® and multiple Emmy® Awards for its work in advancing moving-imagery engineering across the industry.

CineEurope 2022, has been scheduled for June 20-23, 2022 in Barcelona.  CineEurope promises to bring you another year with the very best in exclusive studio screenings and product presentations, cinematic technologies and innovations and educational seminars to keep your business on top of industry trends.

Metamedia Promotes Global Entertainment Leader Frank Bryant to Chief Operating Officer

Bryant brings more than 25 years of senior management experience in domestic and international film and television to company’s operations
MetaMedia, one of the country’s fastest growing entertainment technology companies, today announced the promotion of Frank Bryant to chief operating officer (COO). Reporting directly to MetaMedia Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jason Brenek, Bryant will help focus the organization on the execution of operational and strategic plans and oversee functions related to the acquisition and delivery of content from studios and other suppliers, deployment and logistics, project management, marketing, legal and corporate strategy.
 
“Since MetaMedia’s launch, Frank has been central to our rapid growth,” said MetaMedia CEO Jason Brenek. “As we continue to expand into new markets and sectors, his operational expertise will be critical in establishing business strategies and the infrastructure we need to ensure that we maintain best-in-class services for our quickly growing client base.”

Prior to his promotion to COO, Bryant served as the chief commercial officer and head of international for MetaMedia, where he was responsible for revenue, managing global go-to-market strategies, securing international partners, negotiating strategic partnerships and setting commercial and investment strategy and priorities. Before MetaMedia, Bryant was head of Dolby Cinema, where he grew the business from a startup to a global network of over 200 cinema locations on three continents. Prior to his work with Dolby, Bryant served as senior vice president of digital distribution for 21st Century Fox, senior vice president of distribution strategy and digital media at Walt Disney Studios, executive director of worldwide marketing operations for Sony Pictures Entertainment and principal consultant in PriceWaterhouseCoopers’ media and entertainment strategy practice. Bryant earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley.

In addition to his new role, Bryant will continue to oversee the international expansion of the MetaMedia Entertainment Network™ to cinemas in service of content providers around the world. Bryant will serve as an executive alongside his colleagues Chief Technology Officer Shaiwai Priyadarshi, a longtime software expert and SaaS architect, and President, North America Chuck Goldwater, who was CEO of Digital Cinema Initiatives, president of Cinedigm and co-founder and CEO of New Vision Theatres, who also report to Brenek.    
  
Last year, MetaMedia launched the MetaMedia Entertainment Network™, which provides for the secure, rapid and cost-saving digital delivery of recorded programming such as movies, live-streamed events and advertising. Over the last year, MetaMedia has expanded its platform via partnerships with several major global cinema operators, including Cinemark, Cinépolis, Landmark Cinemas of Canada, Emagine and the Independent Cinema Alliance.
