Access IT’s Bigger Picture announces anime alternative content offerings at Showeast
The Bigger Picture, the alternative content distribution division of Access Integrated Technologies, Inc. ("AccessIT") (NASDAQ:AIXD), continues its foray into Asian cinema with four new movies as part of its partnership with leading anime and Japanese film DVD distributor, FUNimation Entertainment.
The first movie to be theatrically released in select theatres this November is “Bushi no Ichibun” or “Love and Honor” by famed director Yoji Hamadi, starring pop icon Kimura Takuya. This final movie in Hamadi’s Samurai trilogy received 13 nominations by the Japanese Academy Awards in 2006.
The team behind the successful “Appleseed”, Shochiku Co. Ltd. and director Fumihiko Sori, have created “Vexile”, a dark futuristic, CG-anime movie about illegal robotics research, to be released in late January 2008.
This will be followed by the first American feature release based on the wildly popular “One Piece” television series produced by Toie Animation.
Finally, the live-action Japanese epic “Genghis Khan – To the Ends of the Earth and Sea” follows the life of the founder of the Mongolian Empire 800 years ago and was directed by Shinichiro Sawai and stars Takashi Sorimachi.
The Bigger Picture will also continue its on-going programs, including the popular ‘Kidtoons’ G-rated weekend matinee series, the Bigger Concerts series, including acts from the 2007 South by Southwest Music Festival, High Octane Sports featuring Superboat International’s championship races, inspirational movies and many others.
”We look forward to making exciting announcements in the near future supporting all our new and existing programming channels. Focusing on 2008 programming, we anticipate providing theatre owners more options to leverage digital cinema assets, and AccessIT’s new CineLiveTM solution which enables live 2D and 3D content to be delivered to satellite-ready theatres,” said Jonathan Dern, co-president of The Bigger Picture.
