Moving Image Technologies Announces FUSION™ Digital Projection Module
Moving Image Technologies (MiT), a leading manufacturer
of cinema exhibition equipment, announced today the development of the FUSION™
digital projection module, a new, patent-pending concept which will greatly
facilitate the rollout of Digital Cinema (D-cinema). The announcement was made
at ShoWest, the largest annual tradeshow for the cinema exhibition industry.
FUSION installs into the optical compartment of existing 35mm motion picture
consoles manufactured by all major vendors, and is designed to be
interchangeable with the 35mm components, allowing an exhibitor to easily change
back and forth between digital and 35mm film presentations. FUSION utilizes the
existing power supply, automation, wiring, and other infrastructure already
existing in the console. Patent filings cover the concepts and details of
installing any D-cinema technology inside any of the major manufacturers’
consoles.
“FUSION will result in significant cost savings to the exhibitor,” says Glenn
Sherman, MiT President and CEO. “Not only are there substantial savings in
reusing existing components, but there are additional savings in labor and
logistics, resulting from both a simpler installation for the new equipment,
plus the avoidance of removing and disposing of thousands of pounds of scrap
material.”
“The FUSION concept solves a myriad of the problems involved with the upgrade
path from 35mm to D-cinema,” says MiT’s Joe Delgado, Executive Vice President of
Sales and Marketing. “We’ve listened to our customers’ needs, and our design
team has met that challenge with this evolutionary product.”
The FUSION modules will be produced in the USA, at MiT’s state-of-the-art design
and manufacturing facility in Fountain Valley, California.
