Television Academy Names Dolby Official Audio Video Technology Sponsor of its Dynamic State-Of-The-Art Theatre in Soon-To-Be-Unveiled New Saban Media Center
First Non-Commercial Theatre in U.S. To Install Cutting-Edge Dolby Technologies
The
Television Academy today announced Dolby Laboratories as the official audio video
technology sponsor of the new Television Academy Foundation Theatre at the Saban Media Center, the centerpiece
of the organization’s reimagined NoHo Arts district campus. Dolby will also be recognized as one of the
Foundation’s founding sponsors.
Both
the Television Academy Foundation Theatre and green room will be equipped with
Dolby’s latest, award-winning audio and imaging solutions, Dolby Atmos®
and Dolby VisionTM. This partnership announcement of the Academy’s
New Destination Campaign positions the Television Academy Foundation Theatre as
one of the most technologically advanced theatres in the world.
Additionally, the Dolby collaboration
ensures the Academy’s new theatre will be regularly updated with cutting-edge
Dolby technology for the next 10 years, guaranteeing it remains a leader in
audio and visual technology and continuously delivers and showcases the optimum
entertainment experience.
“Our
partnership with Dolby positions our new theatre and Media Center as a
showplace of evolving entertainment technology and we
are thrilled to have them on board as one of the founding partners,” said Television Academy Chairman and
CEO Bruce Rosenblum. “Dolby is bringing the Academy the most advanced audio and
imaging resources available. Their
extraordinary innovations are empowering new generations of story tellers, and are shaping and
enhancing the
way we experience great content.”
“As leaders in delivering unparalleled audio and video technologies to the
industry, it was a natural fit to partner with the Television Academy to advance
the science of sight and sound in their remarkable new Saban Media Center,”
said Kevin Yeaman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Dolby Laboratories. “We are honored to provide the Academy with technology that’s allowing content
creators to bring unparalleled, high-quality entertainment experiences to
consumers.”
The theatre will feature the latest Dolby
Vision laser projection system, utilizing unique optics and image processing. The system creates a high dynamic range with
enhanced color technology and a contrast ratio that produces
bright, crisp images superior to any other image
technology on the market today. The result is a richer, more detailed viewing
experience of strikingly vivid and realistic images. Combined with Dolby® 3D and laser projection, these technologies will produce an unforgettable,
immersive experience for guests of the Television Academy Foundation Theatre.
The 600 seat theatre will also be equipped with a
Dolby Atmos system including speakers from Meyer and JBL. Dolby Atmos moves audio around the theater, even
overhead, creating a powerfully all-encompassing, emotive soundscape with amazing richness and depth.
The Academy’s contemporary, new green
room will serve as a high-tech retreat for performers, talent, panelists, executives
and celebrities at Television Academy events, and features a Dolby Atmos system
with a 9.1.4 speaker arrangement. The technology will also include Martin Logan
speakers, a Marantz AV8802A Dolby Atmos processor, a Niles Audio SI-1650 for
power amplification and the LG 65” OLED model featuring Dolby Vision technology.
The
30,000 square foot LEED-certified Saban Media Center – the new focal point of
the Television Academy campus in the NoHo Arts District and the centerpiece of
the Academy’s New Destination Campaign launched just two years ago – will serve
to support and provide continuing education for the Academy’s 21,000 members. In addition, it will offer fully-modernized
spaces for industry visionaries and leaders in related fields and provide an
ideal environment for exchanging ideas, pioneering innovations and honoring
professional skills. Flexible spaces and
the most advanced digital technologies will be available for professional
development activities and recognition ceremonies, as well as a television lab
where students can learn from the experts.
