Co-Founder of Ultrastar Cinemas to Discuss Company’s Cinematic Milestone at Largest Movie Industry Convention
John Ellison to speak on first theater chain to go completely digital
and the audience response to digital cinema at ShoWest panel
Last month UltraStar Cinemas made history by being the first theater chain to release a digital film in all of their theaters that screened it. This month they will share information about their cutting-edge technology at ShoWest, the largest gathering of motion picture professionals and theater owners from around the world. UltraStar has teamed with Access Integrated Technologies, Inc. (AccessIT) and Christie Digital Systems (Christie) to become the first theater company in the United States to be fully equipped with Pure Digital Cinema® powered by DLP Cinema technology® in all of its locations.
John Ellison, co-founder of UltraStar Cinemas, will be a featured speaker at the seminar titled, “Digital Cinema: The Past, The Present, The Future” sponsored by DLP Cinema. Ellison will speak on the current state of digital cinema and the lessons learned as they helped lead the way for the industry. George Lucas of Lucasfilm, Bob Lambert of Disney, and Garrett Smith of Paramount, among others will also be honored at the seminar.
Ellison and UltraStar co-founder, Alan Grossberg, will be available for interviews the week of March 13. ShoWest takes place March 13 – 16 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The presentation “Digital Cinema: The Past, The Present, The Future” is on Thursday, March 16 at 9:00 a.m. at the Theatre of the Arts at the Paris Hotel.
