GDC Technology (“GDC Tech”), a world leading digital cinema solution provider, has teamed up with Barco, a digital cinema pioneer, to present live demonstration of 3D content in high frame rate (HFR) utilizing the GDC’s Standalone Integrated Media Block™ (“IMB”), GDC’s SX-3000 and Barco’s newest S2K projector, the DP2K-10S, at the CFG-Barco booth (#2A223) at BIRTV from the 22nd through the 25th of August.
GDC Tech’s integrated digital cinema solution utilizing Barco’s projector will usher in an exciting new phase for cinemas for small screens that have not yet transitioned to digital technology. Barco’s DP2K-10S compact projector, based on the new S2K chipset from Texas Instruments, is designed to address the needs of smaller theatres with screens up to 33 feet (10 meters) wide.
Barco’s DP2K-10S projector meets DCI specifications for image quality, color, security, and allows for greater versatility, including 3D and HFR capabilities. Meanwhile GDC Tech’s SX-3000 Standalone IMB™ eliminates the need for an external file server, which greatly reduces theatre management cost and makes boothless cinema practical. It also supports HFR content in both 2D and 3D. In addition, it allows HDMI input, 3G-SDI input and 2D and 3D live streaming for alternative content.
“We are thrilled to be teaming up with GDC Tech to present this groundbreaking demonstration,” said Phil Chen, General Manager of CFG Barco (Beijing) Electronics Co., Ltd. “We are both committed to the entire exhibition community including those equipped with smaller screens, and continuously strive to bring the benefits of the digital cinema revolution to all exhibitors. We believe that the astonishing integrated visual experience demonstrated by Barco and GDC Tech represents the next phase in the history of the digital cinema evolution.”
“We truly value our partnership with Barco,” said Dr. Man-Nang Chong, founder and CEO of GDC Tech. “GDC Tech is proud to reach a new milestone by showing the industry’s first feature rich Standalone IMB™ with Barco’s S2K projector at BIRTV. This demonstration reinforces our mission to offer the most cutting-edge technology to exhibitors that offers better operational and cost efficiency. GDC Tech looks forward to more innovative research and collaboration with Barco in the near future.”
