GDC Celebrates 25 Years of Innovation at CineAsia

• GDC Signs Co-Presenting Sponsor Agreement with Film Expos Group Ahead of CineAsia.

GDC Technology Limited (‘GDC’), a leading global provider of digital cinema solutions, announced today it has signed an agreement with Film ExposGroup to be the Official Co-Presenting Sponsor of CineAsia 2024. As part of the agreement, GDC will continue to play a significant role at  Asia’s largest convention and trade show, which is held solely to promote a sustainable and greener cinema industry.

CineAsia will be held from December 9 to 12 at the True Icon Hall in Bangkok, Thailand. GDC is located on the seventh floor in Meeting Room 2 (MR2).

The Next Era of Digital Cinema
GDC has pioneered LED cinema media servers, with close to 200 LED cinema screens installed worldwide. As of September 2024, more than 80 percent have adopted GDC LED media servers. “The journey into the next era of digital cinema will be an exciting adventure led by LED cinema screen technology,” said Pranay Kumar, CTO of GDC Technology Limited. “With our high-performance standalone Integrated Media Block (IMB) for LED direct view displays, exhibitors can now offer their customers an unmatched moviegoing experience.”
 
GDC LED IMBs are widely compatible with LED screens including CINITY, Samsung Onyx, Unilumin, Quantum Media Systems and Lopu LEDMAX LED cinema screens. The latest generation of high-performance LED IMBs are architected using GDC’s FAST technology. For instance, the SR-5520 IMB is specifically engineered for cinema LED displays that adhere to High Dynamic Range (HDR) specifications, enabling playback of content beyond DCI HDR standards. It supports high-frame-rate (HFR) playback of DCP content in 4K at 96 fps for 2D and 48 fps per eye for 3D.
 
At CineAsia, GDC will showcase two LED IMBs:
·         The SR-5520 IMB is a high-performance IMB that seamlessly integrates with the world’s leading LED cinema screens.
·         The SR-1000 IMB now supports major cinema LED displays. It is renowned for its near-zero maintenance, with SGS certification for 100,000 hours Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), and minimal total cost of ownership. It offers a future-proof, flexible architecture with several affordable built-in options for 4K, storage, 7.1 surround, DTS Surround, and DTS:X with IAB immersive audio formats.

GDC will showcase a wide range of new products and advanced enhancements, including:
·         DTS Surround Cinema: Featuring DTS target curve and full-range surround speakers with enhanced bass management and state-of-the-art tuning practices to deliver cost-effective and premium surround audio.
·         DTS:X for IAB: Up to 32 channels of realistic object-based immersive audio that supports IAB, the international immersive audio standard, to create a richer entertainment soundscape.
·         The SR-1000 IMB with built-in up to 4TB CineCache.
·         The PSD-4000-SSD Portable Storage Series: A compact and lightweight portable SSD RAID storage offering up to 6TB that can share the entire content library with other auditoriums.
·         The AIB-3000 cinema audio processor: a 16-channel audio processor compatible with major DCI servers supporting DTS Surround, featuring enhanced bass management, now supporting HDMI with encoded audio formats (AC3).
 
Additionally, GDC will showcase recent developments to enhance its enterprise software solutions:

• Cinema Automation CA2.0: can run on the new SCL-3300 series live-streaming library server with a capacity to store approximately 3,000 DCPs and instantly stream DCP content to 30 screens.

• TMS-2000WEB Web-based Theatre Management System: allows multiple users to monitor and control booth operations simultaneously, promoting real-time collaboration.
