Avica to deploy the FilmStoreTM Digital Cinema Platform on Dell's industrial-strength servers
Avica Technology unveiled its new
line of Digital Cinema Players at ShowEast in Orlando.
The new product line consists of three Avica FilmStore server models. Each model
delivers Avica's patented, solution-focused software technology and user
interface components running on highly-reliable Dell Computer server hardware.
The A500 FilmStore is a rugged two rack-unit server designed for motion picture
delivery to a single Digital Cinema projector. With hardware built for demanding
commercial applications, the A500 offers fail-safe features including redundant
power supplies, RAID-10 fully redundant disk array with hot swap spare, system
monitoring and key-locked tamper-resistant enclosure.
The A550 Multiplex Cache Server is designed to provide an ideal low-cost
solution for single screen performances in large multiplexes. With the ability
to utilize a networked central storage system it provides both standalone
playback capability and enhanced performance in a networked multiplex
environment all from a single rack-unit enclosure.
For facilities with space considerations and limited digital screens, the
FilmStore A2000 Multi-Screen server provides multiple outputs to feed one or
more projectors from a single, five rack-unit enclosure. The A2000 includes the
same high level of system protection and safeguards as the A500 combined with
the additional storage necessary to support multiple motion pictures being
delivered to multiple projectors concurrently.
All FilmStore models integrate advanced software technologies and a unique
design approach allowing them to easily interface to existing theatre
automation, ticketing and business systems. The Avica Platform for Digital
Cinema includes the FilmStore Digital Cinema Player and is the industry's only
line-up of theater players, servers and management tools based on an open system
architecture and designed specifically for Digital Cinema applications. All
models support content load-in from satellite, broadband connections or physical
media and Avica's "patented" user interface allows local or remote control, via
network or WAN connection, of one or multiple more FilmStores within a theatre
complex.
