China Film Group Adds Additional Avica FilmStoreTM Digital Cinema Players
Avica Technology Corporation announces that its FilmStoreTM
Digital Cinema Players have been selected by the China Film Group as part of its
second stage deployment of Digital Cinema screens throughout the People's
Republic of China. Avica FilmStores were exclusively installed in the country as
part of the first wave of China Film Group's scheduled 100-screen deployment
last year.
All FilmStores deployed in China are being equipped with Avica's new Chinese
language interface, allowing local theater personnel to easily operate and
understand the system. The FilmStore platform has been updated to support
localized user interfaces - a key component in Avica's commitment to the
worldwide deployment of Digital Cinema.
These FilmStores will also support remote management capabilities over
inexpensive dial-up modems for centralized system maintenance and support
functions.
Additionally, all of the existing FilmStores in China, as well as those at the
Hualong and Shanghai mastering facilities, are being upgraded with uncompressed
audio support for all future cinematic releases, with both digital and analog
outputs. The upgrades eliminate the need for theaters to install additional,
expensive audio processing systems and decompression equipment; significantly
reducing the overall per-screen cost of Digital Cinema systems.
"We are pleased that FilmStore continues as the server of choice worldwide and
enjoys the widest installed base of any Digital Cinema server," said Andrew
Maltz, CEO/President of Avica. "Avica's participation in China's Digital Cinema
rollout has been very successful, and we are gratified that FilmStore has been
selected for additional installations in the second phase of the deployment. We
look forward to continued expansion into all international markets, especially
with our new localized versions of the FilmStore interface," continued Maltz.
