This Event enables Columbia Records to have a theatrical release event to showcase the high-definition content that can only be experienced via digital movie projectors.
The two-CD set, DVD, Blu-ray Disc and CD/DVD combo package each feature 23 songs drawn from the band's performances in Dublin, Ireland at The Point on November 17, 18 and 19, 2006. Songs include fan favorites from 'The Seeger Sessions,' radical interpretations from the Springsteen songbook and rare songs appearing for the first time on any Springsteen release.
Springsteen's long-time manager Jon Landau said, "'Live in Dublin' charts the development of a band from an informal gathering in Bruce's living room to an onstage powerhouse. It also documents the growth in Bruce's vision of American music; it includes folk music, blues, Dixieland, country, swing, gospel, and rock, down to and including his own writing. It's all performed with Bruce's classic energy and focus. I think it's some of the finest music he's ever made."
To further enhance the event and to support the growth of Blu-ray, Sony Electronics will award one BDP-S1 Blu-ray Disc player to lucky fans in select markets who attend the one night only theatrical release.
Evan Saxon, Co-President of D&E Entertainment said, “We’re very pleased to have been selected to produce the digital cinema premiere of Bruce’s amazing concert film. Presenting ‘Bruce Springsteen with the Sessions Band—Live In Dublin’ in high-definition via digital cinema puts Columbia Records at the forefront of the latest technology while giving Bruce’s fans the feeling of being there live in the front row.”
“This is a rare opportunity for Springsteen fans to see the best of the Sessions Band Tour without actually being at the show. The HD presentation takes the fan from the theatre into the concert hall” said Doug Kluthe, Co-President of D&E Entertainment.
